I have a background in public health sciences and a PhD in health science. I have worked with research and development in different sectors (municipality, region, private sector). I am employed partly as a senior researcher at the Research Unit for General Practice, Aarhus, and partly as an associate professor of intervention research at the Department of Public Health, Aarhus University.
The primary goal of my research is to ensure person-centred and sustainable healthcare, with a particular focus on coherent patient trajectories and equity in health. I head a research group focusing on providing tailored and more person-centred healthcare in general practice and cross-sectoral trajectories. I combine quantitative and qualitative research methodologies when developing, testing and evaluating complex interventions. Cross-sectoral and cross-disciplinary collaboration is key in my research. I am experienced in co-creating research projects with citizens, patients and professional stakeholders, e.g. civil society, municipalities, regions, hospitals and primary care. I am dedicated to generating knowledge that can be directly applied in clinical settings and improve the treatment offered.
I lead the course “Public Health” at the Bachelor’s degree programme in Medicine at Aarhus University, where I also teach. Additionally, I teach the course “Interventions in public health: Development” at the Master's degree programme in Public Health and at two PhD courses on complex interventions: “Developing complex interventions in public health” and “Evaluating complex interventions in public health”. Moreover, I have extensive experience as a supervisor for MSc and PhD students in medicine and public health, with a strong focus on general practice.
