Kaj Sparle Christensen appointed acting research director

Per Kallestrup took up the position as research director of the Research Unit for General Practice in Aarhus on 1 February 2019. At the time, he was known for his strong sense of adventure and global engagement. He still is.

This sense of adventure and global engagement has now taken him to Kigali, Rwanda, where he will soon lead a new global health research centre in collaboration with three Rwandan universities and the Faculty of Health Sciences at Aarhus University.

Farewell to Per Kallestrup

As research director, Per Kallestrup has placed great emphasis on fostering a strong sense of community and collaboration across the research unit. He has created opportunities for professional exchange, new possibilities and joint initiatives across research areas and academic disciplines. He has created an environment where colleagues support one another, share ideas and work together towards common goals.

His tireless belief in the value of pursuing an idea when you are passionate about it has given many emerging research projects the opportunity to grow and flourish under his leadership. At the same time, his strong professional commitment has always left room for celebration, colour and the occasional quotation or two. 

Welcome to Kaj Sparle Christensen

Kaj Sparle Christensen is a GP and professor of general practice. He has been affiliated with the Research Unit for General Practice in Aarhus as a senior researcher for many years.

As acting research director, he will focus in particular on strengthening practice-based research and its value for patients and staff in general practice in the coming period.
