Green Care

  • Research in nature, health and sustainability

Green Care is an interdisciplinary research group focused on the links between nature, health and sustainability. The group studies how nature-based health interventions can promote well-being, prevent disease and supplement treatment in general practice. It also addresses sustainability within the healthcare system and explores how general practice can contribute to a more climate-friendly development.

The research group develops, tests and evaluates solutions that promote health and well-being, while accounting for environmental and climate considerations. Green Care collaborates across sectors and with disciplines beyond healthcare. In close consultation with urban planners, engineers, architects and social scientists, the group investigates how urban design, green spaces and local environments can support mental, physical and social health and well-being, with particular emphasis on reducing health inequalities.

The group aims to contribute to a healthcare system that is professionally, socially and environmentally sustainable through evidence-based knowledge developed in close collaboration with clinical practice.
